Debate for Puppets: From the River to the Sea?
Children in Gaza are starving. Plastic bags instead of diapers. Are all Palestinians terrorists?
In the past year, it has become increasingly common in the Czech public space to speak about Palestinians as second-class people. A double standard in Czech diplomacy? Blood sugar drops, the body burns glycogen just to stay alive for one to three days. A gallery hung a Palestinian flag in its window—Prague 8 representatives withdrew its funding. “If they don’t disarm, we will disarm them.” “Jews are not our enemies,” says a Palestinian, yet then calls out, “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.” Netanyahu to The Hague? “He’s just defending his people. Arab pigs!” someone shouted at the protesters.
Muscles begin to break down, children stop crying, and the conflict over the Holy Land remains unresolved.
Debates for Puppets is a project in which the speakers do not know each other’s identities, and the audience does not know the identities of the speakers either.
