Synopsis

An evening spent on social media. When middle-aged crime writer Oscar Jayack makes a crude comment on Instagram about the appearance of actress Rebecca Latté, whom he recently spotted in a Paris café, he has no idea that he is about to come under fierce attack from the ageing film star herself. What follows is an email exchange between two artists who are united by drug addiction but divided by very different values. Oscar publicly rejects a recent #MeToo allegation made by his former colleague Zoé Katana, who writes about her experience on a feminist blog. Rebecca, meanwhile, grapples with the difficulties of ageing as a woman in show business and with the injustices inflicted on women. Only a deeper dialogue between these seemingly incompatible personalities begins to uncover feelings of guilt and failure and opens up the possibility of reconciliation. Can social media be a space for genuine dialogue? How can we find reconciliation across generations? And is forgiveness possible in a world shaped by abuse?

An adaptation of Dear Dickhead, the contemporary novel by French feminist writer Virginie Despentes, the production delves into the depths of social media and its impact on the human psyche. It explores abuse and the possibility of making amends, the struggle for understanding and empathy, as well as the rejection of violence and injustice both online and beyond. The HaDivadlo ensemble, joined by guest actress Halka Třešňáková in one of the leading roles, explores a world of uncompromising confrontation and radical honesty.
