Debate for puppets

Debata pro loutky (“Debate for Puppets”) is a unique debate format created at Prague’s DAMU, based on the concealed identities of its guests. The project explores how prejudice shapes the perception of speakers and allows the audience to focus solely on ideas, arguments, and opinions — all presented in a humorous and light-hearted way.

Neither the audience nor the moderator team know their identity — a puppet acts as each debater.

At present, Debata pro loutky is regularly staged at Prague’s ARCHA+. Starting with Season 51: Collective (2025/26), it has also moved into the spaces of Brno’s HaDivadlo.

Debata for Puppets is directed by the duo Doubravka Dostálová and Samuel Špilar, and the regular presenters are Aicha Roubíčková and Jana Vaverková. In addition to the evening version of Debate for Puppets, we also organize a special morning version for school groups, which is accompanied by a tutor program and focuses on Generation Z topics.
